Dave is a licensed Mental Health Counselor with a Masters in Counseling from Grace Seminary and a bachelors degree in education from Western Michigan University.
He started Family Concern Counseling in 1986 as a branch of NW Indiana Youth for Christ. Dave continued to serve as the YFC director and part-time counselor for eight more years, before he began counseling full time. In those years and the subsequent 15 years, FCC has grown to include a staff of six other counselors and two interns. In June of 2005, Family Concern Counseling became an independent not-for-profit incorporated by the state of Indiana.

Dave and his wife of 41 years, Phyllis, have two children and three grandsons. They have lived in the Valparaiso area since their marriage and are very involved in the community. They are active members of First Baptist church in Valparaiso.
Dave has training and experience counseling adolescents to seniors in the following areas:
- Marriage and Parenting issues
- Addiction Recovery
- Abuse Recovery
- Personal Issues including anxiety, depression, and anger control
